Dani Swan Action Thriller Iris to Begin Filming in Spain and Japan

U.S. indie company Rising Swan Entertainment is preparing to begin production on Iris, a female-led action thriller created by and starring Dani Swan, known for The Matrix Resurrections. The feature will be filmed in Spain and Japan, with Japan’s Toei Company supporting the Japanese section of the shoot. Rising Swan is producing the project alongside Spain’s Blue Iris Entertainment.

Lisa C. Satriano will make her feature directorial debut with the film. Satriano has previously worked as an assistant director on major productions including Black Panther, Venom, Atomic Blonde, Thor: Ragnarok and The Butler. The film is scheduled to shoot in fall 2026, and casting is now underway.

Approximately 40% of the production will take place in Japan. Toei will contribute studio space, casting support, production staff, and creative input on production design and stunt coordination. The company will also help the producers apply for Japan’s production incentive, underscoring the project’s international scope and local collaboration.

The screenplay was co-written by Swan and Bryan Hwang. The story blends action noir, psychological mystery and samurai mythology, and is set across modern Paris and feudal Japan. The producers say the film is designed as an elevated genre title with wide global appeal.

The creative team includes cinematographer Damien Beebe, whose credits include Edge of Tomorrow; stunt coordinator Anthony Nanakornpanom, who worked on The Odyssey; and VFX supervisor Alonso Valera, known for Ex Machina. The production brings together talent from multiple international markets to support the film’s action-driven and visually stylized approach.

Swan is represented by Alison Buck, Peter Sample and Jeff Silberman at Bohemia Group. Satriano is represented by United Talent Agency and Louis Pacella.
