Morgan Wallen Explains Concert Cancellation After Weather Forces Show to Be Called Off

Morgan Wallen addressed the sudden cancellation of his Saturday, June 6 concert in Pittsburgh, saying he followed the advice of his team and local officials after being told strong winds and severe weather could make the event unsafe. In a late-night Instagram Stories video, the 33-year-old country singer said he had been informed that conditions in the area could pose risks, and he trusted the guidance he received at the time. He said his decision was based on the information available that morning and added that he believed safety had to come first.

Wallen said the main concern was the large stage setup, which he explained could become dangerous or even fatal in severe weather. He pushed back against online criticism and speculation about the cancellation, saying he had done the best he could with the facts he was given. He also expressed sympathy for anyone affected by the weather in Pennsylvania and said his heart went out to those impacted.

Earlier that day, Wallen had announced the cancellation in a written statement, saying there was “no choice” but to cancel the show because of adverse weather conditions expected throughout the day and night. He said the decision was made after discussions with local officials and his team, and he emphasized that the safety of fans and crew was the top priority. He also noted that refunds would be available at the point of purchase.

The Pittsburgh concert was set to take place at Acrisure Stadium, and the cancellation followed forecasts calling for scattered thunderstorms in the area. Some fans who were headed to the show said they understood the decision, with one attendee telling local media that weather was beyond anyone’s control and that refunds made the situation easier to accept.

The cancellation came during Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour. The singer has been in the spotlight recently after another onstage incident at a Colorado concert last month, when he went viral for overturning a piano. Following that performance, Wallen posted a TikTok video joking that the piano was working, based on what he had been told the night before.

Wallen’s latest comments appeared aimed at clearing up confusion and responding to criticism from fans and online observers. He said he wanted to make it clear that the cancellation was driven by safety concerns, not by any desire to avoid the performance. By stressing that his “true fans” understand his approach, Wallen tried to reassure supporters that protecting the audience and crew remained his priority.

The Pittsburgh cancellation adds another notable moment to a tour that has already drawn attention for both weather disruptions and onstage controversy. Wallen’s message made clear that, in his view, the decision was a precautionary one made under uncertain conditions, and one he stands by as the safest option available.
