Boy Meets World Cast Pleads With Ben Savage to Return in Awkward Interview

Ben Savage’s long-standing distance from his former Boy Meets World castmates continues to draw attention, even as his on-screen siblings and friends say they still hope for a future reunion. The ABC sitcom, which aired from 1993 to 2000, remains a defining part of television nostalgia, and several members of the original cast have stayed connected through a podcast that revisits the show’s legacy and behind-the-scenes memories.

Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle, who co-starred with Savage throughout the series’ seven-season run, have frequently discussed their surprise and disappointment over his apparent choice to remain out of contact. Savage, who played Cory Matthews, has not appeared as a guest on the podcast, and according to his former castmates, that absence has become a lasting point of sadness for them.

Friedle, who played Cory’s brother Eric Matthews, said he has not given up on Savage despite the years of silence. He described himself as still hoping for a day when his former co-star returns to their lives and said that when that happens, there will be plenty to discuss. Friedle also admitted he still feels the impulse to simply call Savage and finally have the conversation they have missed for so long.

Fishel, who portrayed Topanga Lawrence, also reflected on Savage’s life away from the spotlight and away from the cast. She said she often thinks about the family he has built in recent years, including his marriage and his role as a father. Fishel expressed warmth toward Savage’s new chapter, saying she likes imagining him in that part of his life. At the same time, she acknowledged that it is painful not to be included in such major milestones, especially given how close the cast once was.

Even so, Fishel said she has come to accept that not everyone wants to revisit difficult or uncomfortable experiences. That perspective reflects the broader approach taken by the cast’s podcast and related projects, which have not shied away from discussing the more complicated parts of their time on Boy Meets World.

The divide between Savage and his former co-stars remains unresolved, but the tone from Friedle and Fishel is still one of hope rather than anger. Their comments suggest that while they respect his decision to step back, they continue to leave the door open for reconciliation. For now, though, Savage appears to remain absent from the circle of former castmates who have kept the show’s memory alive for fans through shared reflection and continued public conversation.
