Will Among Us Return for Season 2? Showrunner Reveals What He’d Like to See

Paramount+ recently released Among Us, an animated series adaptation of the popular video game, as a surprise drop on the streaming service. The full first season arrived at once as part of the 2026 TV lineup, and viewers who finished it quickly are already asking whether the story will continue. The series features a strong voice cast and follows the game’s familiar setup of crew members, deception, and hidden threats aboard a spacecraft.

The season ends with a decisive conclusion. In the finale, Green, voiced by Elijah Wood, is revealed as the imposter. Red and Purple then eject the remaining alien eggs into space before the group reaches Industria, giving the first season the feeling of a complete story rather than an open-ended cliffhanger. Even so, creator Owen Dennis says he has ideas for where the show could go next if Paramount+ wants more episodes.

Dennis explained that he loves anthology storytelling and sees that structure as a possible path for a second season. Instead of making a direct continuation, he suggested the series could return with similar characters and a reworked narrative, changing the order of events and murders to create a fresh version of the story. He compared the concept to anthology series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. His comments indicate that a follow-up would not necessarily repeat the first season’s exact plot, but could reimagine the formula in a new way.

That approach would also allow different characters to receive more focus, something that could appeal to fans who wanted more time with the ensemble. The article notes that Dan Stevens, who voices Blue, brought strong comedic and dramatic energy to the role, and his early exit from the season left some viewers wanting more from the character. An anthology format could give the show room to highlight other performers and explore alternate story dynamics.

At this point, however, Paramount+ has not announced a renewal for Among Us. Because the series was released all at once and without much advance notice, it is still unclear how many viewers tuned in or whether the show will generate enough momentum to justify another season. There is also speculation that a second season could already be quietly in development, though no confirmation has been made.

For now, Among Us appears to stand as a self-contained animated adventure, but its creator has left the door open for a very different kind of return. If the series comes back, it may not simply pick up where Season 1 ended. Instead, it could reinvent itself as an anthology with the same basic world, new twists, and a fresh arrangement of the betrayal and chaos that made the first season work.
