The Social Reckoning Cast: Meet the Stars Playing Mark Zuckerberg and More

Jeremy Strong is set to portray Mark Zuckerberg in Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, a sequel of sorts to The Social Network that will revisit Facebook’s scandals through the real-life events behind The Wall Street Journal’s 2021 “Facebook Files” investigation. The film is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, and centers on the whistleblowing that exposed some of the social network’s most closely guarded secrets. Inspired by the true story of Frances Haugen and journalist Jeff Horwitz, the project shifts the focus from the rise of Facebook to the controversy surrounding its internal culture and alleged misconduct.
Strong, known for acclaimed work in Succession, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Big Short and The Apprentice, takes over the role of Zuckerberg previously played by Jesse Eisenberg in Sorkin’s 2010 film. His casting places him at the center of a new ensemble story built around the fallout from Facebook’s internal problems and the public scrutiny that followed.
Jeremy Allen White plays Jeff Horwitz, the Wall Street Journal reporter whose reporting helped bring the story to light. Best known for The Bear and his upcoming portrayal of Bruce Springsteen in Deliver Me From Nowhere, White’s character is portrayed as a key figure driving the narrative. In the film, Horwitz interviews a Facebook whistleblower and helps uncover information that changes how the public views the company.
Mikey Madison, an Academy Award winner recognized for Anora, Scream and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, plays Frances Haugen, the Facebook engineer and whistleblower whose testimony forms the basis of the story. Her character serves as the central turning point in the film, as she reveals the company’s internal issues to the press and becomes the catalyst for the broader investigation.
Bill Burr appears as Charlie, a character described as an advisor of sorts to Zuckerberg. While many details about his role remain undisclosed, the trailer suggests he is part of Zuckerberg’s inner circle and may offer perspective on the founder’s decisions during the crisis.
The film also includes Wunmi Mosaku and Billy Magnussen in roles that have not yet been revealed. Mosaku, recently praised for her performance in Sinners and known for Lovecraft Country, Loki and Deadpool & Wolverine, joins an expanding cast whose characters are expected to deepen the film’s look at Facebook’s power structure. Magnussen, whose credits include Bridge of Spies, Aladdin, Maniac, Made for Love and No Time to Die, also remains a mystery role for now.
With Sorkin returning to the world of Facebook and a cast led by some of the most prominent names in film and television, The Social Reckoning is positioned as a major dramatization of one of the most talked-about tech scandals of the last decade.
