The Pitt Season 3: Shabana Azeez Hints at a Major Change for Victoria Javadi

Shabana Azeez has revealed that her character, Victoria Javadi, will not return to the emergency room for Season 3 of The Pitt. Speaking at the Newport Beach TV Fest on June 6, Azeez said Javadi has completed her ER rotation and will move into psychiatry instead. The upcoming season is set in November, making the shift part of her medical training rather than a permanent career change.

Javadi’s new rotation follows a Season 2 storyline in which she grew increasingly uneasy about a future in the ER. By the end of the season, she was questioning whether emergency medicine was the right path for her. Her parents had encouraged her to consider specialties such as surgery or dermatology, but she briefly entertained an even more drastic idea: leaving medicine altogether and going to law school. Her comments to Whitaker reflected her frustration with the toll the ER was taking on everyone around her.

That unease also led Javadi to reflect on the importance of mental health. She told Whitaker that the more time she spent in the hospital, the more she understood how important mental health is for both patients and medical staff. Whitaker suggested she should focus on that interest, and later Dr. Robby encouraged her when she asked about emergency psychiatry. He told her she could succeed in whatever she chose, giving the character a moment of affirmation as she considered a new direction.

Azeez said the psychiatry storyline will bring a different energy to the series and allow her to explore another side of medicine. She described the change as “a very different vibe,” adding that she feels nervous but honored to portray that part of the profession. The new rotation also gives The Pitt another way to continue its focus on mental health, a central theme that has grown across the show’s run.

Noah Wyle, who stars in and executive produces the series, recently said Season 3 will further explore that theme through Robby’s own struggles. He described the season as one in which “the doctor is the patient,” suggesting that the story will follow Robby as he moves from denial toward accepting his mental health issues. According to Wyle, the character’s arc will focus on gradual healing and the difficult process of confronting personal problems.

With production underway, Season 3 appears set to expand The Pitt’s medical drama beyond the ER while continuing to examine the emotional strain on doctors and trainees. Javadi’s psychiatry rotation and Robby’s mental health journey indicate that the new season will keep the spotlight on both clinical and personal challenges inside the hospital.
