Sister Act Secrets Revealed: What Fans May Not Know About the Beloved Film

The making of the film was far from smooth, with the cast and crew working from an unfinished script after changes were made to fit Whoopi Goldberg following earlier plans for Bette Midler. Director Emile Ardolino later said the adjustment took much longer than expected, and what was supposed to be a short rewrite stretched beyond a few weeks. That created major challenges on set, especially because scenes were being shot out of order while parts of the story had not yet been written.

Ardolino described the process as difficult for both him and Goldberg, since they often had to figure out what came before and after each scene without a complete script in place. Even so, production continued every day, with the team determined to keep filming and move the project forward. Despite the pressure and the occasional studio tension surrounding Goldberg, Ardolino said they never had a major breakdown on set and always managed to capture footage each day.

According to the director, the experience was stressful but productive, and both he and Goldberg pushed each other creatively throughout the process. Their collaboration, along with the efforts of the cast and crew, helped turn a troubled production into a finished film that ultimately made it to theaters successfully.
