Rod Stewart Cancels Las Vegas Concert Hours Before Showtime on Doctor’s Orders

Rod Stewart canceled two scheduled Las Vegas concerts at Caesars Palace just hours before showtime, citing doctor’s orders and a sinus infection that left him on vocal rest. The 81-year-old singer was set to perform at the Colosseum on May 29 and May 30, but the shows were called off before the doors opened. A representative said Stewart had regretfully canceled the performances and was expected to return to the venue for shows beginning June 2.
In a statement, Stewart apologized to fans and said he was recovering from a sinus infection while following medical advice. He told supporters he looked forward to returning to Caesars Palace or resuming his summer tour dates. The last-minute cancellation prompted disappointment among concertgoers, with some fans posting on X that they received notice only a short time before the planned 7:30 p.m. start. Others reacted with frustration and humor, with some commenting on the repeated disruptions at the venue and others suggesting the singer should retire and enjoy life away from the stage.
Despite the abrupt cancellation, Stewart has repeatedly said he does not intend to stop performing. In 2024, after announcing what many interpreted as a farewell tour, he clarified that he was stepping away from large-scale world tours rather than retiring from music altogether. He said he had no desire to quit performing and emphasized that he still loves what he does.
Stewart has also spoken often about the fitness routine that helps him keep working at an advanced age. In a recent interview, he said he remains very active, works with a trainer he has had for decades, and maintains a large private gym and indoor pool. He described underwater training exercises and sprint work on a private track, saying he continues to push himself physically. Stewart has said he once reduced his 100-meter time to 19 seconds and hoped to improve further.
The cancellation came shortly after other recent appearances, underscoring that Stewart remains active on the live circuit even as he manages health issues. Fans can expect him to resume performances if his recovery stays on track, with the next Caesars Palace shows still listed to begin June 2.
