PWHL Hamilton Signs Nicole Gosling to Three-Year Contract
PWHL Hamilton announced on June 6, 2026, that defender Nicole Gosling has signed a three-year Professional Women’s Hockey League Standard Player Agreement, securing her with the expansion team through the 2028-29 season ahead of its inaugural 2026-27 campaign. Gosling arrives from the Montréal Victoire, where she was under contract and became the fourth of five players added by Hamilton during Phase 2 of the league’s Expansion Roster Distribution Process.
Selected fourth overall by Montréal in the 2025 PWHL Draft, Gosling emerged as one of the league’s standout rookies in 2025-26 while helping anchor the Victoire’s defense during their run to the franchise’s first Walter Cup championship. The 24-year-old from London, Ontario, was a finalist for Rookie of the Year after producing 19 points, including three goals and 16 assists. Her 19 points tied her for the most by a rookie defender in league history and placed her among the top first-year skaters in the PWHL this season.
Gosling’s 16 assists ranked second among all defenders and sixth among all players, underscoring her offensive impact from the blue line. She also posted a plus-16 rating, tied for fourth in the league and second among rookies. In the playoffs, she added three points in nine games, including one goal and two assists, as Montréal captured the title.
Her signing follows a busy day for PWHL Hamilton, which added forwards Brianne Jenner and Alina Müller, along with goaltender Kayle Osborne, each on three-year contracts during the same expansion phase. The process began Friday at 12 p.m. ET and runs through Monday, June 8 at 1 p.m. ET, allowing each new expansion team to build its initial roster by signing up to five players from its exclusive negotiation list. Existing PWHL teams can lose no more than three players under contract for the 2026-27 season during this phase.
Gosling also brings international experience to Hamilton. She made her senior national team debut at the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship and won a gold medal with Canada. Her arrival strengthens Hamilton’s defensive core as the team prepares to begin play at TD Coliseum in the fall.
PWHL Hamilton is one of the league’s four expansion teams and was officially announced on May 13. Founded in 2023, the PWHL launched its inaugural season in January 2024 and continues to feature many of the world’s top women’s hockey players.
