Millions for Chwalińska: The Polish Star Reaches the Final and Has Already Earned This Much
Maja Chwalińska is set to earn a major payday after reaching the Roland Garros final, with her prize money already guaranteed at about 1.4 million euros gross. At the current exchange rate used by Poland’s National Bank, that amounts to roughly 5.94 million złoty before taxes. The gap between the semifinal and final prize is around 2.76 million złoty, showing just how significant the last match in Paris is financially.
These figures are gross amounts, and the players will still have to pay the high taxes that apply in France. According to estimates, about 45% of the prize money may go to the tax authorities. From the guaranteed 1.4 million euros, Chwalińska would owe roughly 630,000 euros in tax, leaving her with about 770,000 euros net. Converted into Polish currency, that would be around 3.27 million złoty after tax.
For Chwalińska, this tournament has been a breakthrough moment in her career. She entered Roland Garros through qualifying and has already won nine consecutive matches in Paris. Her run makes her the next Polish player, after Jadwiga Jędrzejowska, Agnieszka Radwańska and Iga Świątek, to compete for one of tennis’s four most prestigious titles.
One more challenge remains in the final. If Chwalińska wins Roland Garros, her total gross prize money would rise to 2.8 million euros. Based on the current exchange rate, that would equal about 11.88 million złoty. After the French tax deduction, the net amount would be roughly 6.53 million złoty.
