Millie Bobby Brown Opens Up About Motherhood

Millie Bobby Brown is speaking openly about motherhood for the first time, sharing personal details about life with her adopted daughter and husband Jake Bongiovi in a recent UNICEF video. The actress, who serves as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, appeared in the organization’s My Parenting Journey series and described the emotional depth of becoming a parent as something she never fully understood until she experienced it herself.
Brown said the love she feels for her child is overwhelming and difficult to put into words. She explained that people often say they love their children, but the intensity of that feeling surprised her. Her remarks highlighted how deeply motherhood has affected her since welcoming her daughter in the summer of 2025.
The Stranger Things star also spoke candidly about the uncertainty that comes with parenting. She said there are moments when she wonders whether certain behaviors are normal and often turns to her mother for reassurance. Brown described her mom as her first point of contact in those situations, saying she calls her to ask whether she and her siblings behaved the same way when they were young. According to Brown, her mother usually responds with calm encouragement and confirms that the behavior is normal.
When her mother is unavailable, Brown said her mother-in-law provides the same kind of support and guidance. She described both women as important sources of comfort during her transition into parenthood, helping her navigate the challenges of raising a child while learning along the way.
Brown also shared a glimpse into her relationship with her daughter, saying that food is a special part of their bond. She said they share a “love language” around meals, with both mother and daughter eager to try what the other is eating. The actress suggested that these everyday moments have helped create a close and affectionate connection between them.
Reflecting on how motherhood has changed her, Brown said raising a daughter comes with real responsibility. She noted that she tries to learn as much as possible so she can pass that knowledge on to her child. For Brown, one of her biggest hopes is that her daughter grows up seeing women achieve their goals, support one another, and refuse to settle for less than they deserve.
Brown emphasized that she wants her daughter to be surrounded by examples of women pursuing their dreams and encouraging each other. She said that kind of environment sets a standard and teaches a girl not to accept anything below that level. In her view, those lessons are a core part of parenting and of raising a confident young woman.
She also revealed one parenting philosophy she and Bongiovi follow closely: taking everything one day at a time. Brown said they try not to overthink the future and instead focus on the present, rest when they can, and handle each day as it comes. The couple announced in August 2025 that they had welcomed their baby girl through adoption, writing that they were excited to begin this new chapter in peace and privacy.
