Mercato OM : Mathieu Bodmer agacé par les rumeurs l’envoyant à Marseille

Mathieu Bodmer has reacted to recent speculation linking him with Olympique de Marseille, saying the rumors have become tiresome. Speaking in an interview with Winamax FC, the former Havre AC executive addressed talk that he could succeed Medhi Benatia at OM after leaving Le Havre following an impressive spell at the club. Bodmer made clear that, despite the attention, he does not see himself fitting the Marseille environment.
The French football figure said the situation was not flattering and that it had exhausted him for a day as he had to keep answering people who believed the move was possible. He insisted that he belongs to a different “color” in football terms, signaling that his profile and his connection to certain clubs make such a move unlikely.
Bodmer also stated that there are two clubs he could never join: Olympique de Marseille and FC Rouen. His comments appear to put an end, at least for now, to the speculation surrounding a possible role at the Marseille club. The rumors had circulated after his departure from Le Havre, where he earned praise for his work and helped strengthen his reputation in French football leadership.
The former player’s remarks are likely to be seen as a firm distancing from OM, a club often at the center of transfer and staffing speculation. By explicitly ruling out Marseille, Bodmer has clarified his position and reduced uncertainty around his next step after leaving Le Havre AC.
The discussion comes amid ongoing attention around Marseille’s sporting project and its leadership structure, with Benatia’s role prompting external commentary and possible succession scenarios. Bodmer’s statement suggests that, regardless of outside interest, he does not intend to pursue that path.
For now, his future remains open, but the Marseille option appears off the table based on his own words.
