Married at First Sight’s Cortney Hendrix Opens Up About Finding Faith After Divorce

Cortney Hendrix, who married Jason Carrion on the first season of Married at First Sight, reflected on her journey nearly 12 years after their televised wedding. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, June 2, Hendrix said viewers saw the wedding and the public side of her relationship, but not the emotional aftermath that followed. She described the years after the marriage as a period marked by heartbreak, questions, healing, and faith, and said she once wondered whether anything good could come from something that felt so broken.
Hendrix and Carrion were married in March 2014 and remained together for five years before filing for divorce in February 2019 after a six-month separation. Looking back, Hendrix said she originally believed the story was about finding a husband, but later realized it was about finding herself, healing, and strengthening her relationship with God. She said she felt at the time that leaving the marriage meant she had ruined her life, but now sees that chapter differently.
After her divorce, Hendrix moved forward with a new relationship and married a man named Sherm in October 2020. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in October 2021, and later announced in February 2023 that they were expecting their second baby boy. In her post, Hendrix described herself as a wife and mother who has learned that meaningful things are often built quietly, away from cameras and public opinion.
Her message focused on resilience, grace, and personal growth. She said her life story is not one of perfection, but of honesty, motherhood, and the daily choice to keep showing up in marriage even during difficult times. Hendrix added that mistakes, heartbreaks, and detours do not define the final outcome of a person’s life.
She closed by saying she believes God can redeem painful chapters and use them to create something more beautiful than what was originally planned. Hendrix’s reflection highlighted how her life has changed since her reality TV marriage and how she views her past not as failure, but as part of a broader story of healing and renewal.
Carrion also moved on after the divorce and married British soap star Roxanne Pallett in New York City in January 2020. Both former spouses have since started new chapters in their lives, while Hendrix’s latest post emphasized faith, family, and the lessons she says came from going through public heartbreak and private recovery.
