BTS Ticket Resellers Face Fan Backlash on Carousell and X After Singapore Presale

Carousell has suspended the sale of BTS concert tickets in Singapore after police warned the platform to remove resale listings for the group’s upcoming Arirang concert presales. The move follows a wave of ticket postings that appeared on the resale marketplace earlier in the afternoon, including listings offering four VIP tickets for S$5,000 and another priced at S$6,688 for four VIP tickets. Many of the listings seen during the day were later no longer accessible and appeared to have been taken down by the time of writing.
According to CNA Lifestyle, the Singapore Police Force issued an advisory ahead of the presales and said it had contacted Carousell to remove listings tied to BTS’ Singapore concert. In response, Carousell confirmed that it had decided to suspend the sale of BTS concert tickets on its platform. The company said existing listings were being removed and that affected users would receive a notice referencing the police advisory.
Carousell said it uses an AI moderation system to identify such listings, but acknowledged that because moderation happens after a listing is published, newly created posts may still appear briefly before they are removed. The platform said BTS ticket postings do appear on Carousell from time to time, but added that it has not seen evidence so far that scams have been carried out through these listings.
The company said it will continue working closely with the authorities to protect users and maintain safety on the platform. It also said it aims to ensure that ticket sales are suspended only in rare cases, suggesting that such intervention is reserved for exceptional situations rather than a routine policy.
The latest action highlights the risks surrounding resale of high-demand concert tickets, especially when demand is strong and listings can quickly attract attention from buyers willing to pay premium prices. With BTS among the most sought-after acts in the region, resale activity can rise sharply around presale periods, creating opportunities for inflated prices and possible fraud concerns.
Police advisories and platform removals are often used to curb unauthorized resale activity before it spreads more widely. In this case, the suspension of BTS ticket sales on Carousell appears to be a precautionary measure taken in response to official concerns rather than a confirmed scam incident. Still, the episode shows how quickly resale markets can react to major concert announcements and how platforms are being pressed to tighten monitoring when large-scale demand is expected.
For users, the development serves as a reminder to be cautious when buying tickets through third-party marketplaces. Listings may appear legitimate at first, but buyers can face risks ranging from overpriced resales to invalid or fake tickets. As the presale period unfolds, Carousell and the police are expected to remain focused on monitoring the platform and removing unauthorized ticket postings linked to the BTS concert in Singapore.
