Kai Trump and Ivanka Trump were photographed together in a family moment that drew attention for how closely the aunt and niece resembled sisters. The image came as Kai prepared for a major milestone in her life: her graduation from The Benjamin School in Jupiter, Florida, on May 15.

Despite living relatively close by in Indian Creek, Florida, Ivanka Trump did not attend the ceremony. Her absence was notable because the school is only about 90 minutes south of her home, where she lives with her husband, Jared Kushner, and their children. The graduation marked an important day for Kai, who is now set to begin college, but several prominent members of the Trump family were missing from the event.

Tiffany Trump was the only one of Donald Trump Jr.’s siblings in attendance. She was seated near Kai’s grandmother, Anderson, and also near Vanessa Trump, Kai’s mother and Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife. Her presence stood out because other immediate family members did not appear at the commencement.

Eric Trump and his wife, Lara Trump, were also absent, with their reason tied to travel obligations connected to Donald Trump’s schedule. The pair were returning from the president’s two-day summit in China aboard Air Force One, which prevented them from being present for Kai’s graduation.

Donald Trump himself also missed the ceremony for the same travel-related reason. At the time, he was overseas returning from the summit, making it impossible for him to attend in person.

Melania Trump and her son Barron were in the United States during the graduation, but they also did not attend. Their absence was unexpected to some observers, especially given that they were not hindered by international travel at the time.

The family gathering, or lack of one, drew interest because of the contrast between Kai’s important personal milestone and the limited turnout from the wider Trump family. The event highlighted both the close family ties within the Trump household and the noticeable gaps in attendance from several of its most visible members.

Kai’s graduation photo with Ivanka added a lighter, more intimate note to the occasion, even as questions remained about why some family members chose not to be there.
