Euphoria Season 3 Finale Pays Tribute to Angus Cloud’s Fezco O’Neill

Euphoria Season 3, Episode 8 ended with a tribute to Angus Cloud and his character, Fezco O’Neill, in a finale sequence that tied Rue’s final moments to the memory of her closest friend. Fez was a major presence in the show’s first two seasons as one of Rue’s most important allies, and the episode acknowledged both the character’s place in the story and Cloud’s lasting impact on the series.

Cloud died in 2023 at age 25 in Oakland, California from acute intoxication. At the start of Season 3, the show established that Fez was in prison, and Rue later spoke with him by phone, promising that she would be there to pick him up when he got out. That promise became the emotional center of the finale.

In the episode, Rue is staying at Ali’s home while recovering from injuries. After she falls asleep, she dreams about Fez. In the dream, she wakes up and sees a television report about a manhunt after an inmate escapes from a correctional facility. She learns that Fez has broken out of prison using parkour. Determined to keep her promise, Rue tells Ali, “I have to go get him,” insisting that she must leave to pick him up.

Rue then drives to Fez’s convenience store, a location that recalls the first season. When she arrives, the store is boarded up and abandoned, emphasizing how much has changed. The scene then shifts to a happier moment between Rue and Fez, suggesting a memory, dream, or final emotional farewell.

The sequence reveals that Rue has been dreaming in her last moments after overdosing on fentanyl that Alamo gave her, believing it was painkillers. The finale therefore uses Fez not only as a nostalgic callback, but also as a symbolic figure in Rue’s final thoughts. His appearance gives the episode a sense of closure, while also underscoring the bond between the two characters.

The tribute serves as an acknowledgment of Cloud’s importance to Euphoria and to the audience. Fezco had been one of the show’s most beloved characters, and the finale’s use of his presence reflects how deeply his role shaped the series’ emotional core.

Series creator Sam Levinson said he wanted to keep Fez alive in the show after Cloud’s death. He explained that he had fought hard to keep the character clean while the actor was alive, and that after losing Cloud, preserving Fez on the show felt meaningful. Levinson said that if he could not keep Cloud alive in real life, he could at least keep him alive in the story.

The finale’s dream sequence closes Euphoria Season 3 on a note of grief, memory, and farewell, turning Fez into both a tribute to Angus Cloud and a final expression of Rue’s connection to him.
