Euphoria Ends After Season 3, HBO and Sam Levinson Confirm

HBO’s Euphoria is officially ending after three seasons, with the show’s newly aired third-season finale now confirmed as the series finale. The announcement closes the chapter on one of HBO’s most talked-about dramas, which starred Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo and others.

The end of the series had been rumored for some time, so the confirmation does not come as a major surprise to fans. According to the report, series creator Sam Levinson revealed the news during an appearance on the New York TimesPopcast podcast, where he spoke with hosts Joe Coscarelli and Jon Caramanica. HBO later confirmed the show’s ending through Variety.

Before the finale, Levinson had previously avoided making any firm statements about whether the drama would continue beyond this season. He said he approached each season as if it might be the last, explaining that he was never certain the show would be renewed again. He also said that if inspiration struck and a new idea made sense, he would discuss it with HBO, but emphasized how much work goes into each season and that the priority was making the current one right.

His comments suggested that while a fourth season had not been completely impossible, there was no definite plan in place. Levinson noted the extensive effort required across all parts of production, including costumes, production design, editing, and cinematography. He also said that if this season turned out to be the end, that would be fine.

The confirmation marks the end of a series that became a major cultural and ratings success for HBO. Since its debut, Euphoria has drawn attention for its stylized visuals, intense storytelling, and performances from its young ensemble cast. Zendaya’s role in particular helped define the show’s identity and contributed to its wide popularity and awards recognition.

While the show’s future had been uncertain, the finality of the third season now makes clear that the current run is the last. With the finale already aired, viewers are now left with the show’s closing moments as the conclusion to the story HBO decided to end after three seasons.

The news brings closure to long-running speculation about whether the drama would continue, and it officially places Euphoria among HBO’s completed series. For fans, the confirmation means the series has reached its end after a run that helped shape television conversation in recent years.
