Baltimore Weather Forecast: Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Wednesday

Baltimore will see one more unsettled day of weather on Wednesday, with scattered showers in the morning and a better chance for thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening. The system is expected to bring on-and-off rain through the morning, followed by stronger and more widespread storm activity later in the day. Forecasters say the risk is not high enough to suggest widespread severe weather across the entire region, but isolated thunderstorms could produce lightning, heavy downpours, and damaging wind gusts in some spots.

The National Weather Service and local forecasters say the greatest concern for stronger storms will be south of Baltimore, where temperatures are expected to be a little warmer and the atmosphere slightly more unstable. Areas closer to Baltimore, and locations to the east and west, may stay dry for longer periods, but scattered storms could still develop in the metro area as the day progresses. The timing of the most active weather appears to be from late morning through rush hour, with some models showing a possible round of stronger storms between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Radar early Wednesday morning showed pockets of rain moving through parts of the region, including Cecil County, with lighter showers possible in Annapolis. Those early showers were expected to taper off quickly. Even so, commuters and anyone with outdoor plans were urged to keep an umbrella handy and be ready for changing conditions throughout the day.

Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees, but the humidity will make it feel muggy. Overnight lows will drop into the 60s. If storms hold off long enough, there could be a chance of weather-related disruptions during the Orioles game, though forecasters do not expect widespread problems. A brief delay remains possible if rain lingers into the evening.

Conditions improve quickly after Wednesday. Thursday is expected to be sunnier, less humid, and more comfortable, with high temperatures around 77 degrees. Friday and the weekend should continue the trend toward pleasant weather, with highs in the low to mid-70s and lower humidity. The rest of the week is expected to feature a dry and more stable pattern across Maryland after Wednesday’s final round of unsettled weather.
