Lolly recalled over concerns of plastic traces found in product
A new Allen’s lolly product has been recalled across Australia after concerns it may contain plastic. The recall affects Allen’s “Inside Outs” lollies, which are shaped with fruit pieces hidden inside and were sold nationally through major supermarket chains, independent retailers, convenience stores and petrol outlets.
Customers are being advised to check any packets marked with the expiry date of 30 June 2027. The affected batch numbers are 6072T941, 6073T941, 6074T941, 6075T941, 6085T941, 6086T941 and 6088T941. These products were available for purchase at Coles, Woolworths, independent retailers including IGA, and convenience and petrol retailers nationwide.
Food authorities have warned that the presence of plastic in the product could pose a safety risk if consumed. Shoppers who have bought the recalled lollies should not eat them. Instead, they are being urged to return the product to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
Product recalls are issued when there is a potential safety issue that could affect consumers. In this case, the concern is that small pieces of plastic may have been introduced into the confectionery, making the product unsafe to eat. Consumers are encouraged to inspect their pantry supplies carefully, especially if they purchased the lollies recently from a national retailer.
The recall applies only to the specific Allen’s “Inside Outs” products matching the listed expiry date and batch numbers. Other Allen’s products are not included in the recall unless separately advised. Customers are being reminded to check packaging details before consuming any product, particularly when a recall notice has been issued.
Anyone who has already opened or partially consumed a recalled packet should discard the product and contact the retailer for refund information. If any person has concerns about possible injury or illness after eating the product, they should seek medical advice promptly.
Retailers are expected to remove the affected stock from shelves and provide refunds to customers who return the recalled items. The recall notice is part of the standard food safety process used to reduce the risk of harm when a product may be contaminated or otherwise unsafe.
Consumers can identify the affected product by looking at the expiry date and batch code printed on the packaging. If the packet matches one of the listed numbers, it should be treated as part of the recall. The warning has been issued nationally, meaning customers in all states and territories may have purchased the product through participating stores.
The recall serves as a reminder for shoppers to monitor food safety notices and to verify packaging details before eating packaged goods. For now, customers who have purchased Allen’s “Inside Outs” with the affected code and expiry date are being told to return them immediately for a full refund.
