Tomorrow’s Weather, June 2: IMD Issues Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Alert in 17 States Within 21 Hours; Winds Up to 80 kmph, Temperature Update for Delhi, UP and Bihar

India’s Meteorological Department has issued a fresh alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms across multiple states for June 2, 2026. The warning covers 17 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Haryana. In several areas, wind speed may reach 70 to 80 kmph, raising the risk of damage from strong gusts, falling branches and uprooted trees. In some states, hail is also expected. People planning travel, especially in hill regions, have been advised to check the latest weather updates before leaving.
The IMD said weather systems over the northeast Bay of Bengal and the southeastern Arabian Sea are contributing to unstable conditions in parts of the country. Because of these systems, many regions may see rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds over the next few days. The alert is particularly important for eastern, northern and hilly states, where storms could disrupt daily life and transport.
In Delhi, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on June 2, with winds of 40 to 50 kmph. The maximum temperature may be around 36°C and the minimum about 28°C. Uttar Pradesh has been warned of rain and storms in districts including Saharanpur, Bahraich, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Lalitpur. Lucknow is likely to record a high of 37°C and a low of 28°C.
Bihar is also on alert, with Patna, Rohtas, Gaya, Nawada, Arwal, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Katihar, Buxar and Bhojpur expected to receive heavy rain and storms. Wind speeds may touch 65 to 70 kmph. Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have also been placed under rain and thunderstorm warnings for varying periods between June 2 and June 5.
In West Bengal, districts such as Malda, Bankura, Murshidabad, Kalimpong, Durgapur, Nadia, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Hooghly may see moderate to heavy rain and winds of 70 to 75 kmph. Punjab is expected to face heavy rain and thunderstorms on June 3 in places like Firozpur, Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot, Muktsar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Pathankot, Sangrur and Barnala.
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Assam are also likely to see active weather conditions, with strong winds and rain in several districts. The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and stay updated with official forecasts as conditions may change quickly.
