Pixar Director Sets the Record Straight on Taylor Swift and Toy Story 5 Rumors

Pixar has denied a popular fan theory that Taylor Swift will appear in “Toy Story 5,” saying the singer is not involved with the film’s ending song.

The clarification came during an interview at Pixar headquarters with director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins, who were asked about online speculation linking Swift to the upcoming sequel. Stanton said the rumors were surprising and called it an “honor” to be mentioned, while Collins noted that any such involvement was only a possibility in theory, not part of the current plan.

Stanton then made it clear that Swift is not performing the movie’s final song. He said the film was mixed the previous week and that the ending track was not by Swift, effectively shutting down the fan theories that had spread across social media.

The rumors intensified after Swift’s official website briefly showed a mysterious countdown on April 30, with visuals resembling the “Toy Story” universe, including blue skies, white clouds and a bright yellow font similar to the franchise’s branding. The countdown appeared for only about ten minutes, but it was enough to spark speculation that Swift might be tied to Pixar’s next animated release.

“Toy Story 5” is scheduled to open in theaters on June 19, 2026, the same date as the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw,” a coincidence that further fueled fan theories. Swift’s team did not publicly explain the brief countdown on her website.

The singer already has a close relationship with The Walt Disney Company, which has hosted several of her recent projects on Disney+. These include concert films from “The Eras Tour,” her 2020 documentary “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” and a six-part docuseries about the tour featuring behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals and interviews with Swift, her mother Andrea Swift and fiancé Travis Kelce.

Because of that existing connection, a Swift and Pixar collaboration seemed plausible to many fans. But based on the comments from the “Toy Story 5” team, the specific rumor that Swift is contributing an ending song now appears to be false.

The speculation highlights how quickly fan theories can spread online when hints, visuals and timing line up around a major release. In this case, however, Pixar’s filmmakers have directly denied the rumor, making clear that Swift is not part of the current “Toy Story 5” music plans.
