Texas Native Says Even He’s Shocked by the Number of Rattlesnakes Found on the Beth and Rip Set

Paramount’s new spinoff Dutton Ranch is drawing strong attention after its 2026 debut, boosted by the return of Yellowstone favorites Beth and Rip, played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. The series follows the couple as they build a new life in Texas, where the challenges extend beyond family tensions and unfamiliar faces. During production near Fort Worth, the cast and crew also had to deal with a serious rattlesnake problem that became one of the most memorable parts of filming.

Hauser revealed during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that the crew caught 3,400 rattlesnakes over eight months, underscoring how extensive the issue was on set. Reilly described the outdoor shoots as especially nerve-racking, saying that several snake wranglers were often present while she filmed scenes in stiletto heels through fields, hoping the area had been cleared of snakes. She said the reptiles were not harmed, only relocated far away from the working areas.

Hauser also recalled one particularly alarming nighttime location, explaining that the production was turned away from a site after the director discovered 40 to 50 rattlesnakes there. The cast compared the danger of the wildlife with the show’s dramatic storylines, highlighting just how unpredictable filming in rural Texas could be.

Despite the hazards, Dutton Ranch appears to be connecting with audiences. Paramount said the premiere drew 12.9 million viewers in its first seven days, a strong start for the series. The show continues the story of Beth and Rip while introducing new characters and fresh conflicts in a Texas setting. Annette Bening, Ed Harris, and Juan Pablo Raba also star in the first season.

The series is available to stream on Paramount+ and airs new episodes at 8 p.m. ET every Friday on Paramount Network and Paramount+. For fans of the Yellowstone universe, the spinoff offers a mix of familiar characters, new drama, and an unexpectedly dangerous backdrop filled with rattlesnakes.
