Charli XCX Reveals New Album Title, Release Date and Scorsese Cover
Charli XCX has announced her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, which is set for release on July 24, 2026. The singer revealed the project on Monday by sharing the album cover on Instagram. The black-and-white artwork features John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese, each representing one part of the album’s title. In her caption, Charli wrote that the record contains 11 songs and runs 30 minutes and 5 seconds, and is available for pre-order.
The new album arrives after Charli released two singles from the project, “Rock Music” and “SS26.” The album title comes from lyrics in “SS26,” where she sings, “We’re walkin’ on a runway that goes straight to hell / Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion or film.” The songs suggest a shift in direction for the artist, who became a mainstream breakout in 2024 with her album Brat.
Charli has said that the next phase of her music will move away from the dance-heavy sound and Auto-Tune style that helped define much of her recent work. In an April interview with British Vogue, she said she enjoys changing the format and expects some listeners to react strongly to the change. Her comments signaled that the upcoming album would likely be more experimental and less predictable than her previous releases.
The first single, “Rock Music,” has already drawn a mixed response from fans and critics. Some listeners debated whether the track should even be considered rock, since its sound leans more electronic than guitar-driven. Variety’s chief music critic, Chris Willman, wrote that the song’s style is more experimental than commercial, though Charli’s growing popularity may give her room to release challenging music without following a traditional hit formula.
With Music, Fashion, Film, Charli XCX appears to be entering a new creative era centered on reinvention, visual style, and a broader artistic identity. The album’s title and imagery point to a project that connects different cultural worlds, while the early singles suggest she is continuing to push beyond the expectations that came with her mainstream success. Fans now await the full release on July 24 to hear how this new concept comes together.
