Rod Stewart Cancels Las Vegas Show on Doctor’s Advice

Rod Stewart has again canceled two Las Vegas concerts at Caesars Palace, with shows scheduled for May 29 and May 30 being called off just hours before showtime. A statement from his team said the 81-year-old singer was following doctor’s advice and resting his voice while recovering from a sinus infection. Fans were told he expects to return to the stage starting June 2, and Stewart apologized to attendees and their families for the last-minute disappointment.
The cancellations add to a pattern of recent show disruptions for the veteran performer. In 2024, Stewart postponed multiple U.S. tour dates, including performances linked to his Las Vegas run, after falling ill. At the time, his team cited recovery from COVID-19 and later strep throat as reasons for the changes. Several fans expressed frustration online about learning of the cancellations only shortly before the scheduled concerts, saying the timing made travel and planning difficult.
In June 2025, Stewart again faced a wave of health-related schedule changes. Six shows in Nevada and California were affected, with four canceled and two postponed to September. Those changes came after earlier Caesars Palace cancellations, including a June 5 performance that was also scrapped on doctor’s orders. The repeated disruptions raised concerns among fans about whether he would be fit to continue with major live appearances, including his planned Glastonbury Legends slot later that month.
Stewart later publicly shared that strep throat had prevented him from performing at a milestone 200th Las Vegas show. In an Instagram message, he said he was devastated to miss the celebration and acknowledged disappointment among fans. He noted that while many people can work through strep throat, he was unable to sing through it and needed to recover before returning to the stage.
The singer’s recent health setbacks have unfolded alongside renewed attention to his long-running public criticism of Donald Trump. Stewart has said that he and Trump were once close socially, but that their friendship faded over time, especially as he became increasingly uncomfortable with Trump’s behavior and politics. He has also criticized Trump’s approach to women and environmental policy, saying his respect for the former president diminished significantly after Trump entered politics.
Despite the repeated cancellations, Stewart remains scheduled to resume performances soon and has assured fans that he hopes to make up for missed shows. His team emphasized that the current pause is temporary and based on medical advice, with vocal rest now the priority as he recovers from the sinus infection.
