Nine Inch Noize Announces New Album During Coachella Run
Trent Reznor has been broadening his creative circle in recent years, moving Nine Inch Nails beyond its long-running identity as a project centered on him alone. Atticus Ross became an official member of the band in 2016, and Reznor has since built a closer professional relationship with German-Iraqi producer Boys Noize. That collaboration has already produced several high-profile connections, including Boys Noize’s remix work on the Challengers soundtrack by Reznor and Ross, his contribution to the soundtrack for Tron: Ares, and his role as an opener on the duo’s Peel It Back Tour.
That partnership is now moving into a bigger spotlight. When Coachella 2026 was announced late last year, the lineup was led by major names such as Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, and Justin Bieber. One of the most unusual and attention-grabbing additions, however, was Nine Inch Noize, a new collaborative act made up of Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize. The project is set to perform at the festival this weekend, and recent signs suggest it may also have new music on the way.
A billboard recently spotted tied the act to an album release date of April 17, and that date was later confirmed on social media on April 8. While the announcement has sparked speculation, the exact nature of the project has not yet been officially explained. It is unclear whether the release will consist of original material created by Reznor, Ross, and Boys Noize, or whether it will instead present studio versions of remixes that have already been part of the Nine Inch Nails live show.
On the recently completed NIN tour, a section of the performance was dedicated to Boys Noize remixes of Nine Inch Nails songs, adding to the possibility that the new album could extend that live concept into a studio format. Still, no official details have been shared about the tracklist, style, or structure of the release, leaving fans to piece together clues from the promotional rollout.
The appearance of Nine Inch Noize at Coachella and the confirmation of an April 17 release date have positioned the collaboration as one of the more intriguing music developments surrounding the festival. For now, the project remains partially mysterious, but the combination of Reznor, Ross, and Boys Noize suggests a release that could connect Nine Inch Nails’ industrial legacy with a more experimental and electronic direction. Fans will have to wait until next week to find out whether the album is a fresh collection of songs, a remix project, or something in between.
