Maja Chwalińska Seeks Fourth-Round Spot: Match Time vs. Maria Sakkari and Live Stream Details

Maja Chwalińska has reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career after a standout run at Roland Garros 2026. The Polish player impressed by defeating two strong opponents in succession, beating Qinwen Zheng 6-4, 6-0 and then repeating the same scoreline against Elise Mertens. Chwalińska said after the biggest success of her career that it had not fully sunk in yet, but she knows every next match will be extremely difficult regardless of the opponent.
Her next challenge will be Maria Sakkari, a former world No. 3 and long-time top-10 player from Greece. Sakkari is currently ranked 49th and has not been in top form this season, with only one tournament run beyond two wins, when she reached the semifinals in Doha. She advanced to the third round in Paris by defeating Linda Noskova and Claire Liu, although she dropped a set along the way, suggesting that Chwalińska may enter the match with confidence and momentum.
Chwalińska believes one of her advantages is that opponents do not know her well, and she hopes to use that surprise factor for as long as possible. Even so, the head-to-head record is not in her favor. The two players have met once before, in the qualifying rounds in Rome last year, when Sakkari won 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Saturday’s meeting in Paris will therefore offer Chwalińska a chance for revenge and a shot at another career breakthrough.
A victory could also bring major ranking rewards. If Chwalińska defeats Sakkari, she could move into around 75th place in the WTA rankings, which would be a career high. She has never previously been ranked inside the top 100. The match is also significant from a Polish perspective, as Chwalińska remains one of two Polish players still competing for the title at Roland Garros. The other is Iga Świątek, Chwalińska’s close friend, who has already reached the round of 16 after defeating Magda Linette.
The Chwalińska-Sakkari match is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, as the first match of the day on Court Simonne-Mathieu, starting at 11:00 a.m. local time. The match will be broadcast by Eurosport, with streams available on Player and HBO Max. Live text coverage will also be available on Sport.pl and in the Sport.pl LIVE mobile app.
