Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Advice for Daughter Apple on Navigating Hollywood

Gwyneth Paltrow is celebrating a major moment in her daughter Apple Martin’s life as the 22-year-old begins building her own career in Hollywood. During a May 27 appearance on the “Today” show with Savannah Guthrie, Paltrow expressed pride and excitement after Apple was announced as part of the cast of an upcoming Nancy Meyers comedy film. The Oscar-winning actress said she is “really proud” of her daughter and called the opportunity “really thrilling.” She also praised the project’s lineup, which includes Jude Law and Owen Wilson, saying it is “incredible.”
Paltrow, who has spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry and earned widespread acclaim for her work, shared the advice she gives her children as they navigate public life. She said she tells Apple and her son Moses, who recently signed with Interscope Records, that the industry is difficult but worthwhile if it truly reflects their passion. Her main guidance, she explained, is to stay focused and avoid reading about themselves online.
Apple recently graduated from Vanderbilt University and is now moving into acting after previously working as a model for brands such as Chloé and Gap. The upcoming Nancy Meyers film will mark her first acting role since appearing in an episode of HBO’s “Rooster.” The movie has been described as semi-autobiographical and centers on “a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do,” according to Meyers.
Apple has spoken before about her interest in acting. Earlier this year, she said she had briefly considered law school but eventually returned to performing after going through what she described as a rebellious phase. She also admitted that music was appealing, but performing alone onstage felt intimidating. Acting, she said, is her dream.
Beyond her new film role, Apple has also attracted attention on social media. A recent post featuring an unidentified dark-haired man sparked dating rumors after fans speculated about his identity. The picture showed the man with his arms around her outside what appeared to be a pub, but no caption or tag was included. The speculation grew after observers pointed to earlier online interactions and other public sightings during her graduation celebrations.
Apple has also faced false online claims that she was expelled from school for bullying. She denied the rumor, calling it completely false and insisting she has never been expelled for such behavior. A source close to her also defended her, describing her as a supportive friend and saying the allegations were untrue.
Meanwhile, Paltrow has been open about the emotional challenge of becoming an empty nester as her children grow up and leave home. She said the transition was harder than expected, but also recognized that seeing her children pursue their own paths is ultimately what every parent hopes for. As Apple steps into adulthood and starts acting, Paltrow appears ready to support her while letting her chart her own course.
