Jennifer Lopez Says She Wished She Had Been Single Sooner

Jennifer Lopez says she has no regrets about ending her marriage to Ben Affleck and is currently single. Speaking on the May 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! while promoting her upcoming film Office Romance, Lopez said she “should have done it sooner,” suggesting she feels she made the right choice by moving on from the relationship. When Kimmel joked about her joining The Bachelorette, Lopez laughed off the idea and said she is not doing anything that would disrupt how good she feels now.
Lopez also made clear that, although she is not dating at the moment, she has not ruled out love in the future. She said she would be open to meeting someone “somewhere one day” if the person was the right fit, but she showed no interest in finding romance on a reality television show.
Her remarks come about a year after her divorce from Affleck was finalized in January 2025. She filed for divorce in August 2024 and listed April 26, 2024, as their date of separation. The filing was made without an attorney, with Lopez requesting that neither side receive spousal support and that attorney’s fees be split. She also noted that the couple’s community, quasi-community, and separate assets and obligations would be determined later.
Lopez and Affleck’s relationship has been one of Hollywood’s most closely watched love stories. The two first met in 2002 on the set of Gigli and quickly became a high-profile couple before calling off their original engagement in 2004. They reunited in 2021, reigniting public interest with frequent appearances together and affection-filled moments. The pair married in July 2022 in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony, but the reunion ultimately ended in divorce.
This was Lopez’s fourth marriage. She was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian “Max” David Muñiz. Over the years, her relationships have remained a major part of her public image, drawing intense media attention and fan reaction.
Lopez has also spoken recently about how difficult the breakup was for her personally. In a March interview, she said she took a year off, canceled tours, and stayed home to process what had happened instead of distracting herself with work or another relationship. She said her life felt like it had “exploded” after the split, and that she focused on being with her children and figuring things out on her own.
Despite the pain, Lopez now appears focused on stability, self-reflection, and enjoying single life. Her comments suggest she is moving forward with confidence after one of the most publicized relationships of her career.
