Toyota Recalls More Than 43,000 Vehicles, Including 2024 Tundra Models
Toyota is recalling more than 43,500 vehicles because engine contamination may increase the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The agency said debris from the manufacturing process may remain inside the engine and could damage the main bearing, potentially causing the engine to stall and resulting in a loss of drive power.
The recall covers approximately 43,566 vehicles and expands on two earlier recalls announced in May 2024 and November 2025. Toyota said the issue may lead to engine knocking, rough running, a no-start condition, or a stall. In some cases, an engine stall could cause a sudden loss of power, which may be especially dangerous at higher speeds or in heavy traffic.
The recalled vehicles are linked to previous safety actions involving certain Lexus and Toyota models. The expanded recall includes the 2022 to 2024 Lexus LX, the 2022 to 2024 Toyota Tundra, and the 2024 Lexus GX. The latest action is listed by NHTSA as recall number 26V320 and builds on recall numbers 24V381 and 25V767.
Toyota and federal safety officials said a remedy is still being developed. Until then, owners should watch for mail notification letters expected by July 6. Once repairs are available, the work will be completed free of charge. Vehicle owners can also check whether their specific car is affected by entering the VIN, or using a state and license plate lookup, on NHTSA’s website.
Toyota customer service can also provide more information at 1-800-331-4331. Owners of the affected models are urged to confirm whether their vehicle is included, especially if they notice warning signs such as unusual engine noise, rough performance, or difficulty starting.
The recall is the latest in a series of safety-related actions involving Toyota and Lexus vehicles tied to engine concerns. Federal regulators said the contamination issue could lead to severe engine problems if left unaddressed. Toyota has not yet announced the final repair procedure, but the company is expected to notify owners once a fix is ready and schedule the necessary repairs without charge.
For now, drivers with potentially affected vehicles should stay alert for recall notices and verify their vehicle status through official channels. The recalled models span multiple years and include popular full-size Toyota and Lexus vehicles, making the issue significant for owners nationwide.
