Marshawn Kneeland’s Girlfriend Gives Birth to His Son After Late NFL Star’s Death

Catalina Mancera, the longtime girlfriend of late Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, has welcomed their baby boy, Makhai, seven months after Kneeland’s death. Mancera shared the news on social media on June 11, along with emotional photos and videos documenting the newborn’s arrival. She described the child as her “favorite gift” from Kneeland, underscoring the bittersweet nature of the moment for a family still grieving a devastating loss.
Kneeland died by suicide on November 5, 2025, at age 24, only days after scoring his first NFL touchdown with the Cowboys. His death shocked the NFL community, teammates, coaches, and fans, and prompted an outpouring of tributes and support. One week later, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that Mancera was pregnant with the couple’s first child and announced the creation of the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund to help support Mancera and the baby. Schottenheimer said the team wanted to ensure both mother and child would be cared for in the years ahead.
During her pregnancy, Mancera regularly shared updates with followers while honoring Kneeland’s memory. In December, she posted a message to her unborn son, saying she had long dreamed of building a family with Kneeland before learning she was expecting. More recently, she gave supporters a glimpse of her baby shower and thanked friends and loved ones for helping her through a difficult period.
Mancera also shared a video of the moment she told Kneeland she was pregnant, adding a deeply personal touch to the announcement of her son’s birth. The arrival of baby Makhai marks a painful but meaningful new chapter for Mancera, who has spent the past several months balancing grief, motherhood, and public support from around the NFL. While Makhai will grow up without knowing his father personally, Kneeland’s memory is expected to remain an important part of his life.
The birth has drawn renewed attention from fans and followers who have continued to rally around Mancera since Kneeland’s death. For many, the news brings a measure of hope to an otherwise heartbreaking story, as the family begins life with the newest member named in honor of a father whose impact on and off the field will not be forgotten.
