Canada vs Bosnia-Herzegovina LIVE: FIFA World Cup 2026 Group B TV Coverage, Opening Ceremony, Score, Commentary, Updates and Stats

Canada failed to secure the win they wanted in their 2026 World Cup opener as they fell short despite a lively performance in front of a packed home crowd at Toronto Stadium. As one of the tournament’s three host nations alongside Mexico and the United States, Canada entered the match hoping to match Mexico’s 2-0 victory over South Africa in Thursday’s opening game.

The atmosphere was strong throughout, with the stadium filled largely by home supporters in red shirts and visiting fans in blue, creating an energetic and balanced backdrop for the contest. Before kickoff, the Canadian national anthem was performed by Alanis Morissette, adding to the occasion and setting the tone for an open, attacking match.

Canada, coached by former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch, created several promising chances but were repeatedly denied. Jonathan David, Oluwaseyi and Stephen Eustaquio all had opportunities to put Canada ahead, yet Bosnia held firm and protected their narrow one-goal lead for much of the game.

Marsch’s attacking substitutions gave Canada extra momentum, and the changes quickly had an impact. Cyle Larin, introduced from the bench, scored just 121 seconds after coming on, a decisive moment that turned the game in Canada’s favour and rewarded the team’s persistent pressure.

Group B remains tightly contested, and Canada are still well placed to fight for progression. With two matches remaining, they will look to build on this performance when they face Qatar on 18 June and Switzerland on 24 June. Both fixtures will be crucial as Canada aim to advance from a group that continues to look highly competitive.
