Alex Arce Named “Favorite Son of Carapeguá” by Paraguayan National Team Forward

CARAPEGUÁ. The Municipal Board of Carapeguá has honored footballer Álex Adrián Arce Barrios, 30, with the title of “Hijo Dilecto de la Ciudad de Carapeguá” through Resolution No. 149/2026, approved by the full municipal council on June 3, 2026. Arce, a native of the Veniloma community, became the first person from Carapeguá to play in a FIFA World Cup with the Paraguayan national team, marking a milestone for the city and local sport.

The distinction was promoted by councilor Ederson Centurión of the Colorado Party (ANR) and supported by councilor Alba Montiel, who highlighted not only Arce’s athletic achievements but also his human qualities and the positive example he represents for the community. The resolution recognizes his role in bringing national and international attention to Carapeguá through his selection for Paraguay’s squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

According to the grounds for the honor, Arce’s inclusion in the Paraguayan national team places him among the highest levels of achievement in football and makes him a historic figure for his hometown. Municipal authorities emphasized that his success has elevated the name of Carapeguá onto some of the biggest stages in world sport, giving local residents a source of pride and inspiration.

Arce currently plays as a forward for Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina’s Professional League, where he has become one of the team’s key attacking players. His rise in professional football has been linked to hard work, discipline, and perseverance, qualities that municipal leaders said have made him a role model for children and young people in the area.

The recognition also reflects the broader significance of Arce’s career for the city of Carapeguá, where his journey from the Veniloma neighborhood to the national team has been followed closely by local supporters. His achievements have been described as a collective point of pride for the municipality, especially as Paraguay prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With this tribute, Carapeguá formally joins in celebrating one of its most accomplished sports figures, whose career continues to advance both in club football and on the international stage. The declaration of “Hijo Dilecto” underscores the community’s appreciation for Arce’s sporting success and his contribution to the city’s identity.
