Person Seriously Injured After Incident on Glasgow Train Tracks

A person has suffered life-changing injuries after an incident on the train tracks in Glasgow on Monday morning, June 8, 2026. Emergency services were called to the line between Springburn and Robroyston at about 7.45am after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Police and paramedics attended the scene, and the individual was taken to hospital for treatment. British Transport Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The disruption affected ScotRail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston, causing cancellations, delays and revised schedules across the route. ScotRail advised passengers that ticket acceptance was in place with Midland Blue Bus services operating between Glasgow via Denny and Cumbernauld and Falkirk, and Glasgow via Bonnybridge and Cumbernauld. Customers were urged to check before travelling as services remained disrupted while emergency teams dealt with the incident.

ScotRail customer operations director Phil Campbell said trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston were disrupted while emergency services responded along the route. He added that passengers delayed by 30 minutes or more would be entitled to compensation through the operator’s Delay Repay guarantee.

British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the area in Springburn at around 7.45am on June 8 following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended alongside paramedics, and the person was transported to hospital with life-changing injuries. Police said there was no indication that the incident was suspicious.

The incident caused significant travel disruption during the Monday morning commute, with passengers facing delays and changes to rail services across part of the central belt. Travellers were advised to seek alternative routes and use the bus replacement arrangements where necessary.
