Whitney Leavitt Says She’s Excited for ‘SLOMW’ Despite Exit

Whitney Leavitt is moving on from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but she says she remains excited to watch the show’s next season when it returns to Hulu later this year. In a new interview with E! News, the Broadway performer and mother of three said she has spoken with some of her former castmates and believes they are likely feeling the strain of filming. She described the production as exhausting and time-consuming, noting that reality television may look like daily life on screen, but it is still a demanding job behind the scenes. Even so, she said the upcoming season should be strong and praised the cast as talented and compelling.

Leavitt’s comments come after she announced in May 2026 that she was leaving the series while performing as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway. Despite the feuds and tension that have played out among the women, she said she is on good terms with everyone and suggested that the group dynamic is currently fragmented. The original cast includes Taylor Frankie Paul, Jessi Draper, Jen Affleck, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, Layla Taylor, and Miranda Hope.

Although Leavitt is no longer part of the show, she has spoken positively about the role it played in her career. She said looking back on the experience feels surreal because she had been trying to break into theater and film long before Secret Lives came into her life. According to Leavitt, the cast has shared major highs and lows and gone through far more than viewers have seen on screen. She said the relationships formed during the show will always be part of her life and that she would not change the experience, even with the conflicts.

Leavitt has also said she feels content with her decision to leave, explaining that the series gave her opportunities she had always wanted and opened the door to a new professional chapter. She teased that her next steps will be shared soon and hinted that she is working on unscripted content through her new production company, Leavitt Media House. In a TikTok video and in her interview with E! News, she suggested that one of the first projects could involve a solo reality show centered on her and her husband, Conner Leavitt.

At the same time, Hulu is preparing a separate Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spin-off set in Orange County, California. The new series will reportedly feature Bobbi Althoff, Madison Bontempo, Aspyn Ovard, Salomé Andrea, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease, McCall DaPron, Avery Woods, and Jen Affleck. While the production has remained secretive about the format, cast member Avery Woods has said viewers can expect plenty of drama, varied beliefs, and strong personalities. Woods also addressed questions about Mormon identity within the cast, explaining that some women were raised Mormon and have since left the church, while others remain active in the LDS community. She said the cast’s differences will be central to the show’s appeal.
