Pétanque: Robineau Strikes Again to Claim a Second Title in Ploudalmézeau

Under persistent windy conditions, the last 16 teams competed for places in the final stages in a more intense but still friendly atmosphere. The closing day of the pétanque event in Ploudalmézeau was once again praised for its smooth organization, with the local club earning unanimous approval over the three days of competition.

The biggest surprise came in the round of 16, when the Fazzino-Patruno-Mazéas team was eliminated by Jeangeorges-Andriantseheno-Demestre, 13-1. Some spectators had hoped to see Christian Fazzino reach the final, but the tournament took a different turn as the favorites fell early.

In the quarterfinals, Jeangeorges-Andriantseheno-Demestre lost a close match to Garcia-Renzi-Lecluse, 13-11. Elsewhere, J. Feltain, R. Feltain and Helfrick defeated Beauvais-Garcia-Guittet 13-10, Rocher-Zimmer-Dupont beat Cloarec-Robillard-Mauviel 13-6, and Robineau-Desport-Delahaye edged Sarrio-Scholl-Laur 13-11.

The semifinals were one-sided. J. Feltain, R. Feltain and Helfrick overwhelmed Rocher-Zimmer-Dupont 13-0, while Robineau-Desport-Delahaye advanced by defeating Garcia-Renzi-Lecluse 13-5.

The final, played before a large crowd around the Marguerite Lamour court, delivered high-quality play and remained closely contested for much of the match. Robineau-Desport-Delahaye ultimately won 13-7 after scoring five points in the last end, including four direct hits. Stéphane Robineau said his team had a slow start, trailing 7-3, before recovering to finish strongly. He also thanked the volunteers for the excellent organization and said he hoped to return in two years.

With this victory, Stéphane Robineau became a two-time winner, adding the 2026 title to his previous triumph in 2022. The tournament concluded with a mix of competitiveness, sportsmanship and strong community support, reinforcing Ploudalmézeau’s reputation as a well-run host for pétanque competition.
