Taylor Swift Voices TS in Toy Story 5, Hear Her Take on the New Role

Taylor Swift has released a new song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” written for the upcoming Toy Story 5 and co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. The release follows weeks of speculation after a 48-hour countdown appeared on Swift’s official website and was later removed. The first countdown featured an image that closely resembled the cloudy wallpaper associated with Andy’s room in the Toy Story films, fueling fan theories that a major announcement was imminent.

A second countdown later appeared on June 1 on Swift’s homepage, this time showing Jessie, the cowgirl character from the Toy Story franchise, wandering across a farm. When that countdown ended, it directed fans to a pre-order page for three collector’s edition CD versions of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” confirming the soundtrack release.

Swift said the song had been a long-held dream project, explaining that she has always wanted to write for the characters she grew up loving after watching the original Toy Story as a child. She added that she immediately fell in love with Toy Story 5 after seeing an early version of the film and wrote the song soon after returning home from the screening.

“I Knew It, I Knew You” adds to Swift’s growing list of soundtrack contributions. Over the years, she has recorded songs for films including 50 Shades Darker, Valentine’s Day, and Hannah Montana: The Movie, further expanding her work beyond studio albums and live tours.

The new release also comes during a major year in Swift’s career. In January, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the youngest person ever to receive the honor. She joined the 2026 class alongside Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and the Kiss songwriting team of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

The Toy Story 5 song release combines Swift’s pop songwriting with one of Pixar’s most beloved franchises, creating a high-profile crossover between music and film. The rollout, including the website countdowns and character-themed visuals, generated significant attention before the official announcement. The new track is expected to become a notable part of the film’s soundtrack campaign as anticipation builds for Toy Story 5.
