Carolina Ferraz Reveals Why She No Longer Wants to Act in Soap Operas

Carolina Ferraz was featured on Thursday’s edition of “The Noite com Danilo Gentili” on SBT, where she spoke about her career path, her recent departure from “Domingo Espetacular,” and the new directions she is pursuing professionally. After nearly six years hosting the Record news program, she said she is going through a phase of transformation and greater autonomy, emphasizing that she now sees herself not only as an actress and presenter, but also as an entrepreneur with multiple business interests and creative projects.

During the interview, Carolina discussed her time in journalism and recalled the attention surrounding her interview with Robinho after the former footballer was convicted in Italy. She also revealed that she is developing new initiatives, including a project connected to Agro 3.0, reflecting her interest in expanding beyond television into other areas.

The conversation also turned to the recent rerun of “Avenida Brasil,” one of the biggest hits in Brazilian television drama. Carolina remembered the challenges of working on the production, describing it as one of the most difficult soap operas in which she has appeared. She said there was intense pressure from the network due to the scale of the production and the involvement of many sponsors. She also highlighted the importance of having women in directing roles, noting how unusual it was at the time for television production to be led by women, even though that has gradually changed.

Looking back on the impact of the series, she praised “Avenida Brasil” as one of the greatest soap operas in Brazilian television history, placing it alongside classics such as “Por Amor.” She also revisited other memorable roles from her career, including Rubi in “Kubanacan” and Norma Gusmão in “Beleza Pura,” which helped solidify her reputation as one of the most recognizable figures in Brazilian drama.

Despite her long and successful history in telenovelas, Carolina said she does not miss the demanding pace of that format and does not plan to return to the intense routine of daily soaps. She explained that while she still loves acting and wants to continue working in the field, she now prefers shorter projects such as miniseries, cinema, theater, and smaller productions that allow for more flexibility.

The actress also spoke about her passion for film, her brand Cimples, which she created with her daughter Valentina, and a comedy monologue she is currently developing, set in the waiting room of a therapy session. Her appearance on “The Noite” presented a portrait of an artist in transition, focused on new creative ventures and a broader professional identity beyond television.
