Starz Greenlights Power: Legacy, with Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr. Set to Reprise Their Roles

Starz has officially ordered Power: Legacy, the newest series in the expanding Power franchise, giving it an eight-episode run and describing it as a “fresh new chapter.” The announcement was made on Thursday, June 4, and comes about a year after reports first surfaced that the project was in development.
The series will bring back Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora, and reunite him with Tariq St. Patrick, played by Michael Rainey Jr. According to the announcement, the story will take place in the present timeline and continue after the events of the Power Book IV: Force finale. In the new series, Tommy returns to New York and teams up with Tariq as the two attempt to dominate the city.
Power: Legacy becomes the fifth series in the Power universe and will be led by Gary Lennon, who will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Lennon also co-wrote the pilot script with Kendra Chapman Davis. In a statement, Lennon said he was excited to reunite with Starz and continue Tommy and Tariq’s story, calling the upcoming series an intense new chapter for the franchise. He said the central question will be whether the two characters can coexist while sharing the city, the criminal underworld and the power that drives both men.
Executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson also celebrated the greenlight, saying the new chapter is the biggest one yet. He noted that fans have long wanted to see Tariq and Tommy together again and said bringing Sikora and Rainey back together is especially significant because both actors have made their characters iconic within the Power universe.
The new series adds to Starz’s growing slate of Power-related projects. Another spinoff, Power: Origins, is also currently in development, further expanding the franchise’s timeline and character roster.
Sikora and Rainey have already appeared in multiple Power series over the years, including the original Power, Power Book II: Ghost, and Power Book IV: Force. Their return in Power: Legacy marks a major crossover moment for the franchise and sets the stage for a new alliance in New York City.
