Danny Ramirez’s Rising Stardom Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

Danny Ramirez’s Hollywood profile is rising fast as he expands from acting into directing, producing, and fashion. The actor, who once hoped to become a professional soccer player before an injury changed his path, first found his way into the film industry at age 19 as an extra in “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.” Seeing Riz Ahmed in a leading role helped him realize that Hollywood had room for more Latino talent, inspiring him to pursue acting seriously.
Born to a Mexican mother and Colombian father, Ramirez moved to New York, worked in modeling, and studied drama at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His first professional acting credit came in 2015 on “The Affair,” followed by appearances in “Blindspot” and “Orange Is the New Black.” He gained wider recognition in 2018 with “Assassination Nation,” which he called a life-changing experience.
Ramirez’s career accelerated in 2021 when he played Joaquin Torres in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” introducing him to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His biggest breakthrough came in “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022, where he played Lt. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia. Ramirez has said the production felt like film school, with Tom Cruise and the team encouraging younger actors to think like storytellers and move behind the camera as well as in front of it.
His Marvel role continued in “Captain America: Brave New World,” released in 2025, where Torres evolves into a more central ally to Sam Wilson and steps further into the Falcon legacy. Ramirez has said the response from fans has been meaningful, especially from young viewers who see his character as representation and identify with the idea of a Latino Avenger.
Beyond acting, Ramirez is preparing his directorial debut with “Baton,” a film he also stars in. The story follows a soccer player whose career is derailed, forcing him back to Miami and into a conflict with his sister over their mother’s legacy. The cast includes Maia Reficco, Camila Mendes, Becky G, Diego Calva, and Lewis Pullman. Ramirez has described the project as deeply personal, centered on ambition, loss, and the pursuit of greatness through hardship.
Ramirez is also building a presence in fashion. He became a Michael Kors brand ambassador in February and fronted the brand’s Spring 2026 campaign. He also appeared in AMIRI’s Spring-Summer 2026 campaign and made his Met Gala debut in May wearing a custom Michael Kors tuxedo.
With upcoming films including “De Noche,” “Samo Lives,” and “Avengers: Doomsday,” plus new work through his production company Pinstripes, which he launched in 2024, Danny Ramirez is steadily emerging as one of Hollywood’s most versatile and closely watched young stars.
