iPhone 18 Pro Rumored to Offer Two Battery Capacity Options

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to follow the same regional battery split strategy used in the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, with different battery capacities depending on the market. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Chinese version of the iPhone 18 Pro will reportedly include a 4,056mAh battery, while the US model is said to carry a slightly larger 4,288mAh battery.

This pattern mirrors Apple’s approach with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, where the US variants received larger batteries than their Chinese counterparts. The reason is tied to design differences between markets. In China, iPhone models still include a physical SIM card slot, which takes up internal space. In the US, Apple has moved to eSIM-only devices, removing the SIM tray and allowing more room for a bigger battery.

For the iPhone 17 Pro, the Chinese model was equipped with a 3,988mAh battery, while the US version carried a 4,252mAh battery. The same regional difference appears to be continuing with the next generation, suggesting Apple is prioritizing internal space efficiency where hardware regulations and carrier standards allow.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in September. Rumors so far point to the A20 Pro chipset, a variable-aperture main rear camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, and new color options. These features would make the Pro lineup one of Apple’s more notable upgrades, with battery changes once again reflecting the company’s market-specific hardware strategy.

If accurate, the regional battery capacities would highlight how Apple continues to adapt its premium iPhone models for different markets while maintaining the same overall product design language. The larger US battery could offer slightly better endurance, though real-world differences would likely depend on software optimization, display usage, camera activity, and network conditions.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is still months away from release, and details remain based on leaks and early reports. As with previous generations, final specifications could change before Apple officially announces the devices.
