$40 Million Lottery Prize Remains Unclaimed in Ontario

A $40 million Lotto Max jackpot from an October 28 draw in Ontario remains unclaimed more than seven months later, leaving one of the province’s biggest lottery prizes still waiting for a winner. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said the ticket matched all seven numbers in the draw and was sold somewhere in Grey County in southern Ontario, a region that includes communities such as Owen Sound and The Blue Mountains.

According to OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti, the prize has not yet been claimed and there has been no sign that the ticket has been checked using either the OLG app or an in-store scan. Bitonti said the organization cannot disclose the exact retail location where the winning ticket was sold because that information is part of the verification process and must be provided by the ticket holder. To confirm the rightful winner, OLG needs details about where and when the ticket was purchased.

The situation has now stretched far beyond the initial draw date. The winning ticket was purchased for the October 28, 2025 Lotto Max draw, and lottery tickets printed from a terminal expire one year after the draw date. That means the claimant still has time, but the window is closing, with less than five months left before the ticket becomes invalid if no one steps forward.

The winning numbers for the draw were 06, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43 and 45, with Bonus number 27. OLG’s public website lists those numbers as the combination that secured the $40 million jackpot.

The unclaimed prize was first noted publicly in April, when INsauga.com reported that no winner had come forward. As of Monday, Bitonti confirmed that the jackpot remains unclaimed. He expressed hope that the prize will still be collected, saying the organization is keeping its fingers crossed that it gets claimed.

OLG may soon increase public awareness in hopes of locating the winner. Bitonti said the agency could launch a campaign to draw attention to the unclaimed jackpot and encourage anyone who may have bought a ticket in Grey County to check their numbers carefully.

The case highlights how large lottery prizes can remain uncollected for months, even when the winning numbers are public and the ticket was sold in a specific region. For now, the $40 million Lotto Max jackpot stands as one of Ontario’s most notable unclaimed prizes, with time still available for the ticket holder to come forward before the one-year expiry deadline.
