Why Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Left Hollywood for Colorado
Eva Longoria has opened up about why she no longer considers Los Angeles her main home, saying the move was a gradual decision shaped by changes she saw in California over time. In a November 2024 interview with Marie Claire, the Desperate Housewives star said she had spent her entire adult life in Los Angeles, but felt the city’s atmosphere had shifted even before the pandemic. She pointed to the effects of Covid, along with concerns about homelessness and taxes, as factors that made her feel this chapter of her life was over.
Over the past few years, Longoria, her husband José Bastón, and their son Santiago have divided their time between Mexico and Spain. She described herself as fortunate to have the ability to leave and live elsewhere, while noting that many Americans do not have that option. Her comments reflected a broader sense of worry and frustration about conditions in the United States, though she stressed that her move was not an escape from politics.
Longoria specifically addressed speculation that she left because of Donald Trump’s re-election. Speaking on The View: Behind the Table podcast in November 2024, she said her relocation was not driven by the political environment. Instead, she explained that work projects brought her to Europe and Mexico, including filming Land of Women in Catalonia and Searching for Mexico in Mexico. She said she had been living abroad for years as a result of her professional commitments, and disliked the idea that her move was being framed as a political statement.
Since settling into life outside Los Angeles, Longoria has remained active in entertainment. Her recent work includes appearances in Only Murders in the Building and the family road-trip comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip. The actress and producer continues to balance her acting career with international filming and family life, splitting time between different countries while maintaining a steady presence in Hollywood projects.
Longoria’s remarks highlight a growing trend among high-profile figures who spend more time abroad or outside traditional entertainment hubs while continuing to work in major productions. For Longoria, the move appears to be less about leaving the industry behind and more about adapting her lifestyle to where her projects and family life have taken her.
