Taylor Sheridan Officially Crowned Television’s New King

Taylor Sheridan’s television empire continues to dominate streaming, even as his work draws sharply divided reactions from critics and audiences. Following the polarized response to the final season of Yellowstone, Sheridan remains one of the most powerful names in TV, with multiple projects performing strongly across platforms. Despite criticism aimed at some of his recent titles, his shows continue to attract huge viewership numbers and maintain a loyal audience.
The latest example is Dutton Ranch, which has become Paramount+’s biggest original series premiere in the platform’s history. The Yellowstone spinoff drew 12.9 million global views in its first seven days, overtaking The Madison, which previously held Sheridan’s own record with 8 million debut views. Dutton Ranch also reached No. 1 on Nielsen’s U.S. streaming rankings for the week of May 11, underscoring its broad appeal. Critics have responded more positively to the series than to several of Sheridan’s recent efforts, with Dutton Ranch earning an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score and becoming the highest-rated post-Yellowstone spinoff so far.
Sheridan’s success is not limited to one title. Marshals, despite a 42% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 27% audience rating, attracted 9.52 million viewers at its CBS premiere, setting a network viewership record that had stood for eight years. The series was renewed almost immediately. Meanwhile, Landman Season 2 logged 9.2 million streaming views in just two days, reflecting sustained interest in Sheridan’s growing slate of dramas.
That momentum is reflected in global streaming charts as well. According to Flixpatrol, five of the six most-watched shows on Paramount+ worldwide in June 2026 are Taylor Sheridan productions. The only non-Sheridan title in the top tier is South Park, a longtime staple that has earned its place through decades of cultural longevity. The rest of the list includes Dutton Ranch, Marshals, Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Landman, highlighting Sheridan’s unusual ability to turn his name into a reliable viewing draw.
The article argues that Sheridan has cracked the modern streaming formula by building a universe that audiences trust, even when individual shows receive mixed reviews. In a landscape where many spin-offs struggle to retain viewers, Sheridan’s projects continue to expand rather than fade. That trust, the piece suggests, was built by Yellowstone, which became a defining hit and turned Sheridan into a brand synonymous with popular, genre-driven television.
Looking ahead, Sheridan’s next major project is Frisco King, a Tulsa King spin-off starring Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr. The series follows the character as he attempts to build a new criminal empire in Frisco, Texas. Sheridan is writing all eight episodes himself, and production began in late March 2026. While no premiere date has been announced, the show is expected to arrive before Sheridan’s Paramount commitment ends in 2028, after which he is set to move to NBCUniversal under a reported multibillion-dollar deal. For now, Sheridan remains one of television’s most dominant creative forces.
