Police Search for Missing Boy Who Vanished After Entering Lake
A search continued on Sunday afternoon after a 15-year-old boy disappeared in a lake in Lincoln, prompting a major emergency response at Swanholme Lakes.
Emergency services were called to the site at about 2.30pm after reports that the teenager had gotten into difficulty in the water. Police, rescuers and people at the lake immediately began searching for the boy, but he had not been found by later that day.
Lincolnshire Police said extensive efforts had been made at the scene by those present and by emergency responders, but the search remained ongoing. The force said its underwater search team would also assist in the operation as efforts continued to locate the missing teenager.
In a statement released later on Sunday, the police said: “Despite the very best efforts of people at the lake and the emergency services who arrived on scene, the boy has not yet been located.”
The force added that the family of the boy had been informed and said its thoughts were with them during what it described as an incredibly difficult time.
Police also urged the public not to speculate about the incident. They clarified that claims circulating suggesting the boy had been found were incorrect, stressing that the search was still underway.
Swanholme Lakes, located in Lincoln, became the focus of a large-scale response as emergency crews worked through the afternoon. The incident drew concern locally as officers and specialist teams continued their search of the water.
Authorities have not released the teenager’s name. No further details about how he entered difficulty in the lake were immediately provided.
The case remains active, with police and underwater search specialists continuing their efforts to locate the boy and support his family.
