Relegation heute live: Paderborn gegen Wolfsburg im Free-TV, Stream und Liveticker
SC Paderborn and VfL Wolfsburg will decide the final Bundesliga place for the 2026/27 season on Monday evening after a goalless draw in the first leg of the relegation playoff in Wolfsburg. The second leg kicks off at 20:30 and will be followed live on SPORT1, with TV coverage on Sat.1 and Sky and streaming available via Joyn, Sky GO and WOW.
Paderborn, who finished the season as a second-division club, earned a valuable away result on Thursday and now return home with promotion within reach. Coach Ralf Kettemann said his team had already shown strong “passion, team spirit and willpower” in the first match, but acknowledged that the return leg will be a much tougher test. He pointed out that Wolfsburg have looked like a top-eight Bundesliga side in recent weeks, making the task more demanding for Paderborn. Kettemann said his side must find ways to be more involved in possession and create more chances if they want to secure the step up to the top flight.
A major factor could be the atmosphere in Paderborn. Supporters are planning a fan march through the city and are also expected to greet the team bus before the match. Kettemann welcomed the initiative, saying the team wants to carry that energy into the decisive game while still sticking to its normal pre-match routine. He described the support as a special moment and said he is looking forward to the boost from the fans.
Wolfsburg enter the match under pressure, but they are trying to remain composed. The club faces the prospect of its first-ever Bundesliga relegation, although it has twice previously survived in promotion-relegation playoffs. In the first leg, Wolfsburg were the stronger side for long periods, but they failed to make that dominance count. Their home struggles in the league have also been a concern, with only two wins from 17 home matches in the regular Bundesliga season.
Head coach Dieter Hecking admitted that the first leg was not one of Wolfsburg’s best recent performances and said some tactical adjustments may be needed. Still, the veteran coach struck an optimistic tone, saying his team wanted the playoff finale and now had the chance to play it. Hecking insisted that Wolfsburg still have every opportunity to preserve their Bundesliga status and promised maximum effort in the decisive match.
With promotion for Paderborn and survival for Wolfsburg on the line, the return leg is set to determine who claims the last Bundesliga ticket for 2026/27.
