England announce FIFA 2026 World Cup squad

England manager Thomas Tuchel has named his squad for the World Cup, with the team set to assemble from Monday 1 June at their pre-tournament camp in Palm Beach, Florida before moving to their permanent base in Kansas City on Saturday 13 June. The squad will be joined later by Arsenal and Crystal Palace players involved in European club finals, after England complete two warm-up matches.
Tuchel said it was an exciting privilege to select the squad and admitted the process was difficult, but added that he has full belief in the group and expects them to give everything to make the country proud.
Harry Kane will captain England at a third World Cup, matching Billy Wright’s record for appearances as skipper in the finals. Jordan Pickford, John Stones and Marcus Rashford are also heading to a third World Cup, while Jordan Henderson will make a record-equalling fourth World Cup appearance and his seventh major tournament overall, matching Lucy Bronze’s England record for UEFA EURO and World Cup finals appearances.
Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka will each go to a second World Cup. The squad also includes several players set for their first World Cup experience, including Dean Henderson, Marc Guéhi, Ezri Konsa, Kobbie Mainoo, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon, Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Reece James, all of whom were part of England’s EURO 2024 setup.
In total, nine players will be making their senior tournament debut: James Trafford, Tino Livramento, Nico O’Reilly, Djed Spence, Dan Burn, Jarell Quansah, Elliot Anderson, Noni Madueke and Morgan Rogers. Livramento, Quansah and Anderson were members of the England side that won the UEFA Under-21 European Championship last summer, following a similar achievement by Trafford, Gordon and Madueke in 2023.
Jason Steele will travel as a training goalkeeper.
England’s build-up includes fixtures against New Zealand in Tampa on 6 June and Costa Rica in Orlando on 10 June, with tickets still available. Their World Cup campaign begins against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday 17 June at 9pm BST, before Group L matches against Ghana in Boston on Tuesday 23 June at 9pm BST and Panama in New York/New Jersey on Saturday 27 June at 10pm BST.
The squad has a mix of established leaders, tournament regulars and several debutants as England prepare for a major summer on the global stage.
