Packers RB Josh Jacobs Arrested on Five Charges, Including Felony Strangulation
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday in Brown County, Wisconsin, and booked into jail on five charges, including felony strangulation, according to a police press release and jail records. The arrest followed an incident reported Saturday morning, when Hobart-Lawrence police were called to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs.
Jail records show that Jacobs, 28, was also booked on four misdemeanor counts: assault, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim. His bond was set at $1,350. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
The Packers acknowledged the arrest in a statement, saying the team is aware of the matter and will not comment further because it is an active legal situation. The NFL also said it is aware of the report and has been in contact with the club.
Jacobs, through attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, denied the allegations in a statement. His legal team said he “vehemently denies the allegations” and argued that the case is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence not yet public. The statement asked for fairness and restraint while the judicial process continues.
Jacobs is entering his eighth NFL season and his third with Green Bay. The Packers signed him as a free agent in 2024 after he spent the first part of his career with the Oakland Raiders and Las Vegas Raiders organization. He was selected 24th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and has built a strong résumé as one of the league’s most productive running backs.
In his career, Jacobs has rushed for 7,803 yards and scored 74 rushing touchdowns. He has been selected to three Pro Bowls and led the NFL in rushing in 2022 while playing for the Raiders. He remained a key contributor for Green Bay in 2025, finishing the season with 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Jacobs is under contract with the Packers through the 2027 season. The legal case comes as the team prepares for the next stage of its offseason, with the outcome of the investigation likely to determine any further action from the club or the league.
