Outlast: The Jungle’s Braxton Shares “My Girls” as Fans Lash Out at Team Charlie
Braxton Fish of Team Charlie is drawing attention on Netflix’s Outlast: The Jungle after viewers reacted strongly to the camp’s treatment of the women on the team. In the early episodes, Team Charlie began with two women, Sarah Awad and Leiya Pillitteri, but tensions quickly rose as the group dynamics shifted and the women became increasingly isolated within the camp. Braxton addressed the backlash surrounding the team before and after the show’s premiere, appearing to acknowledge the criticism in a social media post shared on June 14. He posted several photos featuring women and wrote, “This post is for my girls. All my baddies got my back,” while promoting the reality series.
The conflict on Team Charlie became especially visible during a heated exchange between Wes Saunders and Sarah in the opening days of the competition. Sarah was upset when Wes stopped working and lay down while the group was trying to finish building shelter. No one stepped in to calm the argument, and the dispute helped widen the divide inside the camp. As tensions mounted, the team later faced a decision about whether to eliminate a teammate in exchange for supplies. Leiya was reluctant to vote out Sarah because it would leave her as the only woman remaining on the team, but Wes pushed back on that concern. Leiya eventually agreed to target Sarah, saying the numbers were against them.
After Sarah was removed from the group, Leiya found herself increasingly blamed for camp responsibilities, especially fire-making. When those efforts fell short, the men began discussing whether she should be the next person voted out. The sense of exclusion deepened when Brett Johnson made a comment about not needing a “mama” in the camp, a remark that added to the tension and suggested a dismissive attitude toward the women on the team. Leiya later overheard the men criticizing her and said it hurt her feelings when they mocked her. Braxton responded by repeating what she had said to Brett and laughing, telling Leiya she needed to take a joke.
The friction was not limited to Team Charlie’s internal conflicts. Braxton, Brett, and Wes also clashed with Abby Chu and Morgan Colburn of Team Bravo over coconuts, creating more enemies among the other contestants. The show’s early episodes have portrayed Team Charlie as one of the most controversial groups in the competition, with many viewers criticizing how the women were treated and how the men handled conflict.
The first six episodes of Outlast: The Jungle are now streaming on Netflix, with the final two episodes scheduled for release on June 17.
