Man Shot With Crossbow at University of Surrey, Police Say

Ambulance crews, including a critical care paramedic, responded to an incident in the South East Coast Ambulance Service area and attended the scene, the service said. A spokesperson confirmed that the victim was airlifted to a London hospital for further medical treatment after receiving emergency care.

Surrey Police said the victim’s next of kin had been informed and were being supported by officers. The force added that it is continuing its investigation and appealed to witnesses, or anyone with relevant information, to come forward to assist inquiries.

The University of Surrey said it is providing police with its “full support” as enquiries continue. The university also said the campus remains open and operational, indicating that normal activity is continuing despite the incident.

The response involved multiple agencies working at the scene, with ambulance crews and specialist medical staff attending before the victim was transported by air ambulance. Authorities have not released further details about the nature of the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police have not said what led to the emergency, but they are asking the public to help establish the circumstances. Anyone who saw what happened, or who may have information that could help officers, is being urged to contact Surrey Police.

The incident has prompted concern within the local community, though officials have stressed that the university campus is still functioning as normal. The focus of the investigation remains on determining exactly what happened and identifying any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.

Medical treatment is continuing at the London hospital, while officers maintain support for the victim’s family. Surrey Police and the University of Surrey are both cooperating as the case develops.
