Little House on the Prairie Season 2 Adds Two Cast Members, Exclusive

Rachelle Lefevre and Charlotte Sullivan have joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming Little House on the Prairie reboot in series regular roles for Season 2, adding two familiar television actors to the expanding ensemble ahead of the show’s July 9 premiere. Lefevre will portray Eva Beadle, the town schoolteacher who quickly becomes a favorite of Mary Ingalls and Laura Ingalls. The character is described as open-minded, passionate, brave, generous, well-read, adventurous, and worldly, bringing an educated and progressive presence to the frontier setting. Sullivan will play Margaret Oleson, the mother of Nellie Oleson, a role being played in the new series by Willa Dunn. Margaret is portrayed as charming, energetic, outspoken, funny, and sharp-witted, with a dark sense of humor and a fierce, somewhat fearful devotion to her daughter.

The reboot is being positioned as a fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic book series, blending family drama, survival storytelling, and an origin tale centered on the American West. The series explores the life of a pioneer family in the Midwest and aims to present a broad view of the challenges and victories experienced by people who helped shape the frontier. The project is produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studio and is part of a long legacy of adaptations based on Wilder’s work.

The original Little House on the Prairie television series aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983 and remains the best-known version of the story. In that series, Charlotte Stewart played Eva Beadle Simms during the first four seasons, while Katherine MacGregor portrayed Nellie Oleson’s mother, Harriet Oleson, first as a recurring character and later as a main cast member in the show’s final season. The new Netflix version updates the material with a new ensemble and a contemporary creative team while retaining key names and relationships familiar to longtime fans.

The main cast for the new series includes Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracy as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann, Warren Christie as John Edwards, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, and Alyssa Wapanatahk as White Sun. Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as showrunner and executive producer, working with Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly, and Dana Fox.

Lefevre’s recent television credits include Proven Innocent, Mary Kills People, and The Sounds, while she is also widely known for her roles in the Twilight franchise and Under the Dome. Sullivan has appeared in projects including Rookie Blue, Chicago Fire, Law & Order: Organized Crime, and Mary Kills People. Their casting expands the reboot’s second season as Netflix prepares to launch its latest take on one of America’s most recognizable literary properties.
